Small Business COVID-19 Ready Plan Checklist

Welcome to the COVID-19 Ready Plan for small business. The following checklist will help guide your business in meeting regulatory standards for the required COVID-19 alert level. If you have fewer than 10 employees you must comply with all points in the checklist. You may complete the checklist as many times as necessary.

*Please note that checklist questions will be updated as per government updates.

Preparation to Resume Activity

As each sector is given permission to operate at a certain alert level, workplace activity must be phased in over four weeks.

  • Phase 1: Week 0
    • New alert level declared
    • Sector permitted to resume
    • Advance teams prepare workplace for readiness
  • Phase 2: Week 1
    • 1/3 employees resume work
  • Phase 3: Week 2
    • 2/3 employees resume work
  • Phase 4: Week 3
    • All employees resume work
Workplace Arrangement

Ensure that workplace arrangement reduces risk of virus transmission.

Arrange the workplace to ensure that employees are at least one and half metres apart. If that is not practicable, place physical barriers between employees to prevent possible transmission of the virus:

Masks

Provide cloth masks or require an employee to wear some form of cloth covering or face mask over their mouth and nose while at work:

Hygiene

Prevent virus transmission through good hygiene and regular hand washing:

Sanitize

Prevent virus transmission through regular sanitization:

Symptom Screening

Conduct regular symptom screening amongst all employees:

Ensure that employees that present with the symptoms set out in the COVID-19 Basic Symptom Screening Tool are not permitted to work:

In the event of a symptomatic employee, immediately refer to a general practitioner or contact the COVID-19 hotline (0800 02 9999) for instruction and direct the employee to act in accordance with those instructions:
